To our dear friends and family,

Happy New Year!!! Did you have a wonderful Christmas season?? We did enjoy our time away for a bit at the beach though coming home means catching up on rest, sleep and than work. J We do enjoy it all!

We are gearing up for 2 more families coming this month and also a single gal. They will be arriving on the 15th. We are also saying good-bye to 3 families and a single gal. Two of the families are returning home for the delivery of their babies, and then return directly to the region they will be serving here in Indonesia, another family is moving to Kalimantan to a tribal location and the other gal is getting involved with our national missionaries finishing their training for a time.

This change over rate is exciting and hard at the same time. Hard because we say good-bye to good friends, exciting because they are prepared for their next phase of ministry reaching the tribal people of Indonesia plus….new ones are coming. Yeah!!! We keep praying for laborers and we are also praising the Lord that He is building His church.

Tim is going away for 4 days to visit some fellow missionaries and also to be a part of our first ever conference for our national co-workers. He is leaving on the 10th and returning the 15th. Pray that He will be an encouragement and have wisdom for guiding others and boldness in speaking truth.

The kids are back to school tomorrow, the 10th. They have enjoyed their holidays, learning to surf- which meant a burnt face for Brandt, and learning on their new skate-board- which meant scrapes for Brandt. He told me he is having quite the holidays and I had to agree. J

Thanks for all your prayers for us and for the team here in Salatiga. Each family has much to learn and grow in as they prepare for tribal ministry. It is awesome to see each step of faith they take, whether it’s in childcare as they study language, health as they eat out with neighbors, safety as they ride motorbikes, or another move to reach people with the gospel of Jesus Christ. Will it be worth it all???? We have no doubts that it will be and their testimony of His love and faithfulness during these times will assure your hearts that they feel the same also.

Because HE first loved us, Kathy for us all

A few pics!!

Dear Friends and Family,
We have safely arrived in Indonesia. Our first 5 days we were able to relax in Bali. What a wonderful time we had with family and friends from Papua there. We were even able to watch the newest DVD on the work in Moi. It brought tears and lots of joy to our hearts as we watched the new believers being baptized. Only God can transform hearts and what a testimony it is. Tim is in meetings now in Jakarta and then on June 8th we will go to Salatiga and set-up our home. We are really excited about our ministry there and the kids are getting excited about seeing their new home and surroundings as well. Thanks for your love and concern of many asking about the earthquake that took place. Our new home is far enough away as are the NTM missionaries not to be affected by the disasters. We praise God for His protection and for all your prayers on our behalf.

Hard to believe it has been almost a year already since we began ourfurlough. It was certainly a full year, but very good!Right now we are in Singapore, with a day lay over at a very comfortablehotel, complements of the airline, though I imagine, they got the money outof me somehow. We will be boarding for the last leg of the trip latertoday. So far the trip has gone very well, and at a few times we couldsense the Lord intervening, and kept things moving along very nicely. We will keep you up to date, as we start our new ministry there in Java,Indonesia.

I thought you may be interested in this. It is from Rich and Karen Brown, the family that has taken our place there in Moi.

"Yesterday morning one of the believing couples' (Piyato and Baigoa) pigletswas attacked by someone else's pig. I guess it was Baigoa's fault since sheis the one who is supposed to be taking good care of it. It's the woman'sresponsibility here. Well, if Piyato was to do what any normal airbreathing Moi male would do, he'd give his wife a good beating. A littleencouragement not mess up again. I, Rich, was talking with Baigoa soonafter her piglet was attacked and felt bad for her and the pig. I felt badfor the piglet because it had a good gash on its neck and a broken frontleg. I felt bad for Baigoa because she was afraid to go back down to herhouse because she expected to get a beating. To make a long story short,Piyato didn't end up beating her. He said he was God's child now and didn'twant to hit her even though he was upset about what happened. (note: Wedidn't tell him what he should or shouldn't do in this case, only prayed.)"We sure appreciate your continued prayers for the Moi.

Update!!

Dear Friends and Family,I trust this finds each of you enjoying the Grace and Goodness of our Lord. Kathy and I are both so Thankful for the great time the Lord has given uswhile here in North America. Though we have not been able to see all thefolks we would have liked to, we are Thankful for each of you, that we havebeen blessed to have time with.Lord willing we will be returning to Indonesia May 22 of this year. That isless then a month away, so needless to say, we are getting very excited. Many of you have asked if we are feeling ready, and for sure the Answer isYES! Also many have asked how Kathy's health is, and if she is ready toreturn. Though, she will be quick to tell you, that she will still enjoyevery day we have left on this side of the ocean, she is ready for whateverthe Lord has next.Upon return to Indonesia, we are anticipating a very different sort ofministry. Though we will deeply miss serving amongst the Moi, and with ourco-workers there, we will be moving to a whole new Island. There is noquestion we are leaving a huge part of our heart there in Moi, and hope toreturn as often as the Lord allows, we are also excited about what is comingnext.Basically, God has been doing and an amazing thing, that is nothing short ofa miracle. Though Indonesia is the worlds largest Moslem Country, in thelast couple years they have been granting us far more visas for new familiesthen ever before. As a result, we have over 20 families in Indonesianculture and language study right now, with many more anticipated this year, and many more to follow. With this blessing comes responsibility too. Wefeel it would be prudent to have a family in leadership living in the sametown with these families. The lot has fallen to Kathy and I and we see thisa Great opportunity to be involved in getting the Gospel to many new tribalgroups. Our role will be predominantly member care to the families coming, andworking with them, in helping them during their 12-18 months of orientationand language study, and giving guidance as they move out to the differentparts of the country. As a member of the Field Leadership Team, this will be our primaryresponsibility, but will still be very involved in member care through outour field of Indonesia. As we get there, and get involve with this new ministry, we will be able tobetter fill in the blanks. We will sure appreciate your prayers, in thedays ahead, as this will be some major changes and adjustments. Also wewill be setting up from scratch again on the island of Java. A house isbeing prepared for us, so should be ready when we get there.Again, Thank you so much for standing with us with all your prayers andsupport, and we will be thrilled to answer any questions that may arise inyour mind with this change in ministry.By His Grace,TimTim and Kathy Whatley2028 Nelson St.Gorrie, Ont.N0G 1X0 Canada1-519-335-3625
